The Adventures of Barky Dog is a series of children’s and Level One English books surrounding the main character, Barky Dog, and the Adventures he has, the places he goes, and the friends he meets. Barky Dog is modeled after a real dog from The Algarve in Portugal who was taken care of part time by the author. The books detail a series of adventures that Barky Dog has with his animal and human friends, who are also modeled after real people and animals that Barky Dog knew.

Zoë Muro is a freelance artist, nomad, and foodie who loves to travel around the world, and to learn new things along the way. As she travels around the world she learns new languages, meets new people, and creates new foods. She writes and illustrates the Adventures of Barky Dog book series while drawing inspiration from the people, places, and things she’s seen over her time travelling, and the things she continues to see. She based the book series after a dog she helped to take care of while she stayed in The Algarve, in Portugal, and his friends. Most of the characters in the books are based on real animals and people that the real life Barky Dog knows. She had the idea for the book series when she was leaving The Algarve, and felt that she needed a way to share the light and joy that Barky Dog gave her, with others, and so the series was born.
